Is it safe to say that photo filters help deceive people's looks?

My best buddy has been dating this chick online for over 2 months. They finally decided to meet up, oh boy! The person on the picture looked nothing like her, her natural skin colour is a beautiful brown and she manage to whiten it with filters. She's actually twice the size of the person in the photo. She gave herself a photoshop surgery. He was so sad because he fell for her quirky personality but the whole appearance made him felt betrayed.

Yeah, and some people use photos from when they are younger too.

I've used dating sites in the past and it can be pretty frustrating.

It's rather sad, this is probably why video calling people can help remedy this problem.

@LostInTheDesert: Yeah, absolutely.

I met a decent amount of men that lied about their height as well... It's weird. It's like, WHY? If you really intend on meeting someone, why deceive them right away?

This is the reason why I chose to stay away from internet dating etc. Some people send pics from the internet too.
