What are some conscious or subconscious thoughts /beliefs about yourself...

That enable you to date? I don't mean the concept "I'll just see where it goes ." Or "It's just a date" but how do you view YOURSELF, that helps you say Yes to a date, rather than fearing you're not enough?

Physically, I think I look bad, and I am getting old. But I do not care too much anymore what people think. I shower daily, trim my beard, wear decent, clean clothes, and nice smelling deodorant. Take me or leave me, I say.

Mentally, I think I am pretty sharp, at least with mathematical type things (my job). I do fail when it comes to "common sense", though. Yet I navigate society OK.

And for everything else, there's Master Card. 🤪
People love to be nice when you whip out the card!

Personality-wise, I am sometimes not too empathetic or diplomatic. Or too absent-minded. I keep to myself and usually want to be left alone. I do not like to make it get phone calls.

I can easily get attached to nice women, who usually do not want such attention. Especially from me.

At least on a date I presume that is what they are looking for, at least! Yet not creepy or too enthusiastic!

But I have never been on a date. I think I asked somebody once to lunch but she declined.

Nowadays, I am less interested in companionship. It just seems too complicated. Or the very least, I think I still would want to live alone, have my space.

I'm in a divorce process /separation limbo right now. After seeing someone for a bit, dating is kinda off my radar, at least for now. I'm simply not ready.

Marriage and individual counseling over the years helped me get past the idea I wasn't enough. It showed me I was clearly with the wrong person. Being happier alone than living with that person, has helped as well.
Obviously I haven't dated for a long time, but when I was actively dating, what drove me was the belief that I deserved to be in a relationship. That and of course the desire to be in one.

@LeopoldBloom Oh nice. I'm the polar opposite, I believe I don't deserve to be in a relationship. It's a horrible feeling. Mainly feeling I can't offer what most others offer in dating. I have PTSD and I'm scared a guy will tire of me declining certain activities/dates, not due to me not liking him but due to anxiety 😞 im working hard at believing i do deserve to date but its tough .

I already know and have accepted that I’m not enough.
So there’s nothing to lose for the trying

@HikingMan That's not true... You seem a kind hearted person, I'd say that Def is enough.

It never even enters my mind. I'm more concerned with compatibility, etc.
