If I really liked him, I'd give him one more chance.

When people show you who they are, believe them.
Be kind

It is easy to blame Alcohol.... but from my viewpoint, that is a crock of shit. But that is what finally convinced me to stop drinking.... cuz I was once THAT GUY.
So unless his intention is to totally stop drinking.... I would walk away OR (better yet) RUN.

After reading your other post about this, I would be concerned that this man could become violent in the future.
The fact that he insulted you when you didn't give him what he wanted is a huge huge red flag and I would worry about your safety around him.
Protect your peace, girl 💙💙 I'm sorry you had to experience that

@caccoon For real could have led to SA
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
@caccoon That and the fact he's divorced and is still somewhat infatuated with his ex. Who knows how that marriage ended.
buriedalive · 51-55, M
I'd have a sit down conversation and lay it all out there. be like hey I like you but we gotta establish some boundaries. What you did wasn't cool and I felt pressured and disrespected. Can we agree to go at a slower pace especially because you know I'm coming out of something bad.Something along the lines of those words. If he gets defensive and doesn't listen/give a shit I'd walk away.
too bad you don't live near me I'm pressing tofu gonna make some tacos and we can talk shit

@buriedalive that's exactly what I said to him
buriedalive · 51-55, M
@LeGrotesque Alright that changes things then if you laid out your boundaries and he still exerted his needs over yours that is not an equal partnership. I'd walk away. I hate when people pull that shit they sound great on paper and at first it's great then the shitstorm hits.
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
It's one thing to be frustrated and I've made mistakes under the influence myself but never in a million years could I imagine having boundaries being set and then breaking them in such a way. I think it's a sign to steer clear and frankly if you give him another shot, I'd hold out for even longer now. He violated your trust and that's hard to get back

@HootyTheNightOwl Probably not. However, we don't know the conversations between them and if she's willing to or not. He's certainly not owed that opportunity after how he behaved.
@Turtlepower We do know from previous posts that she wants to take it slow because she's still healing from another recent abusive relationship, though - which he knows about... so, based on that, I think we can say that she is not willing (or consenting) at this time.
Of course, that's not to say that she won't change her mind at some point - which is why it's always important to check that your partner still freely and willingly consents to this (whatever "this" might be). Even if she consented to earlier acts, there can still be a point where either party withdraws consent.

@HootyTheNightOwl I agree. Respectfully, I think you're preaching to the choir here.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
How sincere do you believe his apology is? If you think it's sincere and he really wants to make amends, and you still want to spend time with him, then give him one more chance. If you don't think that his apology is sincere or you don't want to take the risk, don't.

Can I see a photo of this guy?

I think you saw the real human being free of inhibition. I'd be cautious.

Dump him. No excuses!
DeadOrbit · 36-40
In my experience nothing good has ever come out of my experiences with people who have had similar problems not in the long run.
Which is it, then... "He's taking full responsibility" or "He's blaming the alcohol"???
Can't have both...

He violated the agreements you had going into that evening. He can blame what he wants but does it really matter? He's shown you what he is capable of doing.
Who you saw when you held firm to a boundary is who he really is ...he's making excuses because he wants access to you ...if you start letting his excuses slide about this ...then what else will you let slide ? Something to think about
@Chern0bylplaygr0unds absolutely this. If they can get you back after pushing you too far they'll keep pushing until you've lost yourself.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Always forgive, never forget. Take it back to the beginning. Phone chat. Coffee in public. If he does care about you then he will understand. He's still a stranger so treat him like one. I can't seem to get over the fact that he does care about you. He made a mistake. Don't give him the chance to make another. I guess I just feel sorry for the guy.
Teirdalin · 31-35
If it's the guy from the last post, nah alcohol doesn't do that he's just a manipulating sociopath.

This is definitely a red flag. It seems this guy has a lot of baggage. 🚩🚩
Newyguy80 · 46-50, M
Don't do it, he's been rude and disrespectful, two attributes not needed in a partner .
SizEmUp · 31-35, M
You recently exited a situation that wasn't in your best interest. This is too new of a situation for there already to be red flags. Best of luck to you.
