If you're going to capitalize the B in "black," you have to capitalize the W in "white" or you get no BWC.

I am not sure where you live but in the U.S it has not only been normalized but standardized and fetishized heavily in an aggressive plot to diminish straight black men. Strong straight black male representation is hard to find without having a white woman savior or being demoralized and coming from "the struggle". Even as far as what's being normalized in children's entertainment and school content. With a culture that is sometimes so vehemently against black love, it can be easy for people to get defensive about such topics especially when they or someone they know has been impacted by such characterizations. So that may be a reason why.

Also. If who you are involved with romantically has nothing to do with the person's culture/race then just live in your happiness. The same way people won't like the clothes you wear, the friends you choose or whatever other silly opinions people have about other people's business, that's the same way you should treat their opinion about your relationship. They are entitled to their opinions but it doesn't have to be your problem. Miserable people will always look for company.

On the other hand, if your severely bothered because people don't accept your relationship, when in reality, they don't have to and they are allowed to have big feelings about it, I would suggest you take a closer look at the real reason you are attracted to said person. If they did and said those same things as a black/Jamaican man would you still feel the same way? Because fetishizing romanticizing a relationship because of the cluster differences and public perception or internalized messaging can work both ways.

That's just my two cents. Hope things work out for you.

I will say date within your own kind because you all understand each other better. In most interracial marriages with a black woman and a white man. The white man usually brings the money, when you have money. Chances are you can make anything work. I speak from from observation.

I'm not human, so I am always dating outside of my race. I wouldn't recommend it... I wish I could date an alien instead. Dating humans is kind of a bummer, tbh.

It’s nothing to be ashamed of, the heart wants what it wants

I’ve only dated Latino and white men, not because of preference but because it just happened.
It is really a form of racism. Having similar levels of education or spiritual beliefs or cultural interests are far more important.
A relative of mine who was in law school in 1967 recalled working on the briefs in Loving v Virginia, the U.S. Supreme Court case which struck down laws prohibiting interracial marriages (a 9-0 decision). It is amazing that such prejudices still exist. (There is an outstanding film depiction of the story Loving made in 2016.)
@LamontCranston Up until the 90s, there were still places that had antimiscegenation laws in place. Loving v. Virginia only applied to Virginia. The 90s aren't even that long ago when you think of who would still be alive today from then, so it makes sense people still feel this way.

Also your second sentence contradicts your idea. If having similar levels of spiritual beliefs and cultural interests are important, then interracial unions don't make sense.

since moving abroad

In that case, why do you care how people in Jamaica feel?
If you're trying to do this in the states, it's because of the history. Learn more about the history, so you can understand the "why" in this situation. You will understand then.

You love who you love and don't let other people's opinions get inbetween your relationship.
Absolutely ridiculous and racist

Do you let other people’s comments and points of view influence you? If you do, then you’re never going to be happy and you will never be true to yourself.
