How not to date

I am so not able to do the dating thing.

Rewind - how I ended up with a date... .

Last Wednesday as yoga class finished I spoke to guy who regularly comes along. As we parted he said "Would you fancy a drink sometime?"

Panic due to my recent alcohol issues. I just blurt out "I don't drink alcohol ". He laughs and says" Just a coffee then ". So I commit to this morning.

This morning I keep expecting him to call it off. I go for a very cold run with a friend. Pick the kids up and head to my daughter's dance class. Only then do I get a message saying" See you soon ".

I'm still in running gear, my son walking with me as he was going back home with my friend and he's outside the coffee place looking smart. I must have looked a complete state.

I need hot chocolate after the run and devour two croissants for late breakfast. Goodness knows what he thought.

We're talking away when I realise my daughter will be finished. He lives that way so walked back to my car where my daughter is waiting.

She's immediately "Where'd you meet him?" Yoga. "Yoga? Is he gay?" (Just what her dad would say). Luckily I'm turning left so looking away from her "No he's bisexual actually". That was best bit of whole thing.

I've not dated since I was a teenager I really need to think it through way more than this morning's disaster and up my game. Anyways it was a nice long discussion with a nice person.

@AngelaR80 it does not sound like a disaster at all. Your daughter is funny. You turned up as you, just you, and it was a nice long discussion and some hot chocolate. Sounds comfortable, is what it sounds. AND, he didn't excuse himself to the loo, or to take a urgent phone call and disappear.I agree with @FelicityDavenport, I'd count that as a win. :-)

I think that's ok!

General rule of consensus is that if a guy knows you do fitness stuff then you're either going to look like one hot mess or be radiant! And since he's seen you as a hot mess already - ie, he does the same class - that means he likes you already!

So...it's a win!

You did fine, and I wouldn't exactly call that a "Date". I would call that a pre-date inspection 😆😆😆 I don't know what to call it, but it's deffinetly not a date

You daughter, awesome humor. Encourage it

You were social and spent some time with someone. Probably safer than a ‘date’ that entails everything being perfect

As Felicity says he has seen you doing normal stuff. As Nick said just let your friendship grow good luck

He turned up, he's not bothered by all that stuff. I bet you're on a proper date soon

@KatyO83 I agree

😄 That sounds great! Call him, suggest you meet again!

Well who cares what he is. If he does yoga he's going to be flexible. A bonus, no alcohol means a clear head to fully enjoy it🤣

Sounds like things went well and that’s a good thing!

@IronHamster I don't per se. Only found out he was today. Was married for five years to a woman. Then in relationship with a guy for 10 years.

@AngelaR80 Some women like bi guys because they aren't lying about the threesomes, but I know other women that are turned off by the idea. I mean, the idea of the bisexuality, not the threesomes.

Is he gay😅 great place to meet people

You make me want to go to Yoga as a Straight man just so certain women will think I'm gay because every girl seems to have a gay friend she fancies.
