I have no problem with that
SlippingAway · 46-50, F
I'd prefer to just pay my portion of the bill. I went out on a date once with a guy that wanted to split the bill and he drank 3 beers and his side was way more expensive. I politely told him I will be paying for my bill, he can pay for his.

@SlippingAway i went on a date with a woman who ordered a literal ton of food
SlippingAway · 46-50, F
@t2logan9193 I honestly think it's best for people just to pay for their own meals. Once you've been dating for a while maybe split or switch off but first date no way.

@SlippingAway Makes sense.

I'd ask the waitress to split the ticket and happily pay for my own. As for another date, would depend on the kind of person he is, not what he spends at the restaurant.

He doesn't get a first date...
Not because the dutch thing, but I'm simply a guy that doesn't date guys...
But if he wants to go as friends and go dutch that's cool

Splitting is better, as long as we agree on the restaurant.
That way nobody assumes they bought more than dinner.

Probably not. I think I'd take it as a sign he wasn't very interested.
t2logan9193 · M
@PatientlyWaiting25 for me Im happy to pay for my date and often do. There have been a few exceptions (she was rude to the staff, ordered way more than me, or I didnt get any romantic vibes)
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
@t2logan9193 yeah you just feel it. I'm old fashioned. I want to be made to feel like a lady so I love all the old fashioned chivalry stuff. Especially in the early days.
t2logan9193 · M
@PatientlyWaiting25 im a chivalrous guy. But like with everything there are exceptions.
KentuckyFriedFloozy · 26-30, F

@t2logan9193 that's why everybody should split the bill
SomeMichGuy · M
@KentuckyFriedFloozy Are you sure you don't prefer to DO "the splits"? You clearly can. 😉
I completely agree with your serious point, though; relationships shouldn't be transactional.

He should. That means he believes in fairness.
saragoodtimes · F

helenoftroy2000 · 22-25, F
if you go dutch the second date is swedish
RedBaron · M
Do you actually believe that anyone needs the meaning of going Dutch explained? 🤷♂
t2logan9193 · M
@RedBaron i had two people message me asking me to explain the meaning to them
Journaling4Me · 56-60, F
