This is what I don't get about the "mate" friend phrase.

Wouldn't one always mate with their mate?
But I guess not when their only a friend mate.

@sstronaut mate means friend with benefits. Lots would like to seek this arrangement but will never get it.

@zonavar68 I think a number of people use the term Mate to mean friend as well.

In British and Australia at least
