Do you have to 'actively' work to attract others? Why isn't 'being yourself' enough?

@HowtoDestroyAngels it hasn't really worked for me but I am fearful of many things in the relationship space so I probably don't project sociopathic levels of positive energy and I don't have the financial and physical ability to meet women's often bizarre expectations.

@zonavar68 I wasn't talking just about romantic attraction or relationships. I was actually speaking more about friendships.
