Why is it always the duty of a man to ask the woman for a date?

Men can be shy too. If you like him then, ask him to go out with you. Maybe that's the only barrier to possibly a wonderful relationship?

I asked my wife out, and she turned me down with an excuse. I didn't ask again, so she asked me out. We married almost 8 years later.
