My late partner would have celebrated 50 years of sobriety in a couple of months if she had made it through this year. 🤥 One of the things that I admired about her was that she had overcome her addiction, helped others fight their addictions. Focus on the glass half-full (the person had the strength to overcome and continue to fight their addiction) rather than the glass half-empty (they fell victim to a disease earlier in life). The fact that the person has been tested and found to have the strength and resilience to overcome that illness, rather than the fact the person has an addiction s/he needs to continue to fight.
