Everything boils down to personality. I prefer lots of conversation before a first date in order to establish emotional intimacy, then nothing past cuddling and heavy petting for a while. Sex can wait unless both parties are truly and consensually ready for it.
Ideal clothes would be whatever you wear every day - after all, I'm dating you, not what you nervously select from your wardrobe. :)
