Do men like women who are mean to them?

When I was in high school this guy asked me to the school dance, and since his family was struggling financially, I'd have to pay for my own ticket. I was happy that he asked me out and I paid my own way no problem. When I got to the dance he never showed up. The worst part was that I paid my own way, never asked him for money and I thought I was special because I was splitting especially since I overheard most of female peers say a Guy paying for the first date was expected. And here I was alone at the dance, feeling completely stupid. I felt cheap and stupid.

I always believed that guys liked women who pay for their own stuff, make the first move, and doesn't have insanity high standards but I was constantly rejected whenever I did this. Do men like women who are mean to them and take their money? :/ I don't understand

I think that for some men it is a matter of pride or their sense of masculinity to make the first move and to pay for stuff.

Also, a certain kind of meanness from an attractive woman can be very sexy.

BUT there are also lots of men who will be attracted to a kind and honest and generous woman like you. You're still young; there is no reason to give up.

For some men there is some kind of ownership fetish. Like they pay for the woman so they own her.
Also this means they are in charge.
For some others this is just a kind act. Similar to open the door for the lady.
Other guys like splitting the bills to make sure they are not being used for money.
I would like to suggest not to generalize neither women nor men based on a statistically insignificant number of cases.

I think you were better off he didn't show up, he sounds like as ass
Maybe he lost his money and couldn't afford his own ticket..
I’m sorry that happened to you. I hope you had some fun despite.

I think it could be true for men or women, but sometimes people do seem to prefer being treated like crap. Let them on their way and don’t look back. It’s nobody you want to be around.

Do you mean like being married, or in a sexual way?

It's like women, everyone's different and we all like different things.
It's possible what you did might've resonated with some guys but they weren't the guys you were into. Stuff like that.

@DDonde even my cat likes meaness. He's a boy. I just don't get it. Do men and boys naturally like jerks or something

@Woofwoof15 No, but I think everyone likes confidence and sometimes jerks are more confident unfortunately.
