It might be kind of unusual, but I'm not sure it's necessarily "weird".
I met someone at a sporting event, we hung out a bit, shared a couple of drinks, I got her number and I went home. I called my best friend and told her that I'd just met the woman I was going to marry. Sometimes you just know.
Though, to be fair, I didn't tell the woman that for a couple of dates. I didn't want it to seem weird.
So... uh... on rethinking my answer, yes, maybe it is a little weird.
