Is there a good way to break up with someone?

I had a couple of dates with a guy... he's nice & all but I'm not feeling the spark whereas he is... I'm finding him quite childish but initially I thought that was down to nerves but the childishness hasn't faded... I don't want to lead him on but don't want to continue dating him... how do I let him down gently? I don't want to ghost him either, I've been ghosted myself & it isn't nice...

Good for you for not just walking away. That's bad behavior and bad mojo.
I might go with something like, "I had a really nice time with you but my life is getting a little crazy right now I'm just not in the right place to date." I just think it's better to put it off on something else as opposed to "I'm not feeling the vibe with you." Good luck.

I wouldn't insult someone's intelligence that much with that excuse

@MntoNc I agree, plus it makes it sound like there could be a chance in the future

@MntoNc How is that insulting someone's intelligence? What good comes from "I don't like you?" You extricate yourself from the situation and that's that. The goal is reached. The other upside is you don't know someone after just a couple of dates. If he's 'childish' you don't know how that person would respond to the truth.

@Ynotisay can see both points here... I cudnt just walk away, it's been done to me & it hurts... Will take both points & try to come to a middle ground...
