Can you appear to be rich but be poor?

BBrendan · 46-50, M
I buy the best quality I can afford and make it last. For this reason I’m never in fashion but I have quality. I always remember seeing an interview with the Queen and her bloke, in their living room. The settee looked like it was new in the 1930s and the tv was an old “big back” affair.

Do the opposite and have true wealth. Save. Invest. Keep your mouth shut about your wealth and never flaunt or brag about it.
For awhile .. the appearances tend to catch up sooner or later .. usually after a run of bad luck
Depends on what you believe rich is.

Yes I think i maybe come across as that way.. I am well educated, I have a profession, a relatively large ( for my area) Victorian house.. but I am very poor.. I bought it when house prices were much much cheaper and no one wanted older houses..

@SnowBlack I wish I was that poor 😅

You may for a while, but in general the show is short lived, you can't keep a certain lifestyle for long if you don't have the resources.

Yes if one wears too many brand wears and jewellery they are most likely to be poor

But, I appear to be poor & are.

Absolutely. Cars and clothes. See it all the time.

That’s what most “flashy richness” is.

Wealth is quiet
Rich is loud
Poor is flashy
