Anyone else grow to be suspicious of people who are overly polite?

Not Canadian apologetic, actual politeness. Sir and ma'am, please and thank you without fail. Every person who has personally screwed me over to date has been unfailingly polite. I'm starting to see it as a red flag. Anyone else?
