Would you date a guy who took off on you and his friends a year ago and comes back?

He apologized and had good reasons to do so. But something just isn't sitting right. I mean why come back after being gone a year. I know he went on a journey of self discovery but still just don't know if he's not telling me something. We've been friends for a long time now and this is our only hurdle we've ever had.
