Nope I like cycling along the Taf Trail it's an old disused railway track that was made into a cycle track in 1964 it's shared with Ramblers and dog walkers more than twenty miles of decent cycle track and further parts are main road
@turbineman40: Hello The "Taf Trail" is in Wales which is part of the United Kingdom it runs from Cardiff the capitol of Wales to Brecon it's made up of old railway lines and forestry commision tracks and public roads I usually stay to the parts of the Taf Trail that don't share the track/road with motor vehicles the Taf is named after the River Taff which it more or less follows there's plenty of articles about the Taf Trail on-line it's very popular and local people like myself are very lucky to have it.
Yes it's a great ride fifty seven miles in all from Brecon to Cardiff there's a book written on the Taff Trail it's the official Guidebook worth borrowing from your local libray written by Jeff Vinter has plenty of pictures to accompany the various chapters and there's no motor vehicles so it's safe cycling which I appreciate.
I love riding but 3 years ago at age 60 was the first time I’ve rode from 1 state to another. I rode across Maine and all the way to Connecticut . It was a solo trip but the best bicycle ride of my life .
@Repete congratulations on a fine ride. If you are interested, I you might check out cycle North Carolina.org. I if is a seven day ride from the western mountains of North Carolina to the ocean on the Eastern side of North Carolina. I have riddenthe the trip three times. It a wonderful experience riding with the other 1,000 people. At your age you will be one of the young people making the ride.
Sounds like a great ride. We have a trail on the east coast that goes along the whole coast from Maine to Florida that I think would be an awesome trail to try or at least try parts of it.
It's one of the best things I have ever done. Have ridden Cyclenorthcarolina.org three times. From the mountains to the coast in seven days. Most exciting 470 miles riding a bicycle ever Check out the website
I've had many a near miss with cars overtaking me that got too close and hit on the shoulder by a car moving very slowly the women driver was looking in the shop windows the otherside of the road she was driving along a high Street, after that near miss I have used my car more often.
@irishmolly72 I was younger when I rode Cycle North Carolina. I was 64, 65, and 66 then. Each ride was around 450 miles each. Did ride 100 miles one day on the last ride. Yes, a century ride! Ha
