Why are people so intrigued by serial killers

Theres so many shows and documentaries and movies about them, also, why arent there any anymore. Im glad there isnt but just curious.

It's thought by the FBI that there are probably 25 to 50 serial killers active in the US at any given time.

As with many other crimes, it's the crap or unlucky ones that get caught.

@DarkSideoftheMoon I'm afraid they do tend to be easy targets, and quite honestly the police never seem to put quite as much effort in when investigating their cases.
