EU Involvement?

Hey Canadians, what ware your thoughts on the Prime Minister Carney inscribing the country into something no one has voted for?

Carney was clearly give a mandate by the Canadians to diversify trade with this American economic aggression and threats; that is what this agreement encourages.

Do Canadians usually vote on trading agreements?
Quimliqer · 70-79, MVIP
@meJess This is not a trading agreement that’s being discussed, it’s allowing new laws to govern.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Quimliqer I repeat, nothing was agrred upon. It will entail closer trade and defence
swirlie · 31-35, F
@Quimliqer
No it isn't. New laws have nothing to do with Canada ditching the USA as a trading partner and running off with the EU to elope. New laws do not even enter the equation here.
What do you mean? Canadians voted for Carney so whatever foreign policy he sets speaks for all Canadians, until the next time
Did you vote to bomb a girls school in Iran?
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
He didn't . He is bringing it to Parliament. Also, nothing has actually happened yet.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Quimliqer I don't think it was in secret, in fact it was televised. Also nothing has actually been agreed upon yet so I don't think he is being a dictator.

You are now making up scenarios that hasn't happened. In Canada, we have Parliamentary procedures and a democracy that does not allow abuse.
Quimliqer · 70-79, MVIP
@JimboSaturn It wasn’t televised until the president of the EU made the statement!
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Quimliqer Actually it was reported before Carney went to the EU parliament. But who cares? Everyone knew when it happened. There was absolutely nothing devious about anything. Again the is precisely the mandate Carney got elected. I think you have fallen diwn a rabbit hole
tenente · 36-40, M
American here. Details please: what was agreed and signed? Was it better than what we offered?
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@helenS Yes. That at least what the current US administration has said to not only Canada but the world.
helenS · 36-40, F
@JimboSaturn The aggressor is very powerful, but not almighty. New alliances will be built, and the aggressor will stand alone on its way down. It's a country in the state of decline.
Or so I hope 😐
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@helenS No they are not almighty. This is why the middle powers must cooperate in order to be resilient against the hegemons.
swirlie · 31-35, F
Canadians gave Carney a mandate, just as they gave Trudeau a mandate. The difference is, Carney is an Investment Banker by Trade, who uses his skillset to save the asses of failing economies like Great Britain's for example, which he is now applying to Canada's economy as Canada officially divorces the USA as it's primary trading partner and finds more reputable customers on the other side of the Atlantic for Canada to trade with.

Trudeau was a nice man, but like his father, he was only an Attorney who worked in a nice law firm in Quebec and then became Prime Minister just like daddy did, but knows nothing about business matters no different than his father.
