To all my American friends, don't fall for this Canadian delicacy. It's a French-Canadian invention that actually tastes like krap. French fries, hot gravy and cheese curds, all served up in a cardboard container and eaten outside with a plastic fork when it's -40 degrees .

The Chateau Laurier Quebec City is located near the Plains of Abraham and the Parliament Buildings, whereas the Fairmont Frontenac Hotel Quebec City is located high on a hill overlooking the St Lawrence River.
The place I'm referring to is the Frontenac, not the Chateau. The Fairmont Frontenac is a class act, whereas the Chateau is an old renovated CN Hotel with heat radiators in every guest room.
the food at the chateau sucks,

@swirlie I've stayed at the chateau Frontenac, and the food isn't that great, I'd much rather skip the dishes or walk to a better place to eat. Just because it's fancy doesn't necessarily mean that the food is good. Also the palace Royale is less expensive, the suites are pretty sweet, and you're right across the street from a poutine place

@swirlie I know where I stayed and it was the Fairmont le château Frontenac. Big lobby, high ornate ceiling, the restaurant is mid and the breakfast sucks. It's where I chose to spend, what was supposed to be, my last weekend in the city after my kidney transplant. The table where I sat overlooked the boardwalk just below the little park behind the hotel. There's actually a tunnel that connects the restaurant/dining area to some shops and a Starbucks, the tunnel is also like an exhibit with historical plaques n shit. I'm familiar with the place
