I have Canadian co-workers now expressing discomfort with visiting the US

They are canceling plans to attend the GDC (the Game Developer's Conference) and even the thought they may have to spend a week visiting an office in the US for business-related reasons is making them nervous.

They might be overreactions but perception has real impact. So much winning...
