That's where grandparents come in!

I think its sad the way some parents have become. I work in blocks of flats and all the time i can hear parents screaming at there kids and the bad language. Those kids are going to grow up the same. Its worse now as its half term here and the kids are at home for 2 weeks

@nevergiveup yes it's unforgiveable really. We all have to shout at our kids now and then but if you hear relentless abuse and expletives please think about making a safeguarding alert call to social services. Whatever council area you work in, go to their website and search for children safeguarding.

I was probably an ADHD kid and my parents didn't have cell phones and I think they were wonderful parents.

There is certainly a chemical/brain portion of ADHD. I think anxiety plays a major part and some of it is anxiety.

@SW-User valid points and I must confess I am no expert. From what I have read there is no scientific explanation to the causes however the statistics for diagnosis in the UK have exploded in the last 20 years. Maybe better health care and awareness for diagnosis has contributed? But I do worry about the numbers of parents who openly and overtly have little interest in their children in favour of their phones and the number of children starting school with poor communication skills and challenging behaviour issues.

I forgot to say, I heard a story on the news from a teacher who, when asking a five year old, 'what do your mummy and daddy do?' He replied, 'they look at their phones'

I get upset when they pick their kids up from school and are always on the phone :(

@SW-User every where, so sad

@Ironicman Not gonna lie, I give E my phone if we're out in a restaurant, but it's last resort. She's not glued to it. But to not pay attention to your kid after a day at work/school, thats sad
