Do you ever watch movies from different countries to learn something about their culture?

I guess that’s how most people have learnt about America, 🇺🇸 through their movies. Obviously, it could be said America comes across as a very violent place and they aren’t at war with anyone but themselves!

Here in Europe we have the Ukraine war, now it’s true prior to that war Ukraine had a developing movie industry and some very fine movies were produced there.

France 🇫🇷 and Germany 🇩🇪 as well as Italy 🇮🇹 have an established film industry and depicting of their culture. In Germany few movies are made about the Nazi years (1933 to 1945) although I’m told the younger generation has been interested in the history.

In France 🇫🇷 there are some very good producers and directors of movies, usually they are social dramas of some kind. Guillaume Canet is an actor turned director who produces some excellent movies.

In Italy 🇮🇹, well everything is kind of post Fellini, and the industry could be better than any in the world if the financial support for some movies could be better. La Dolce Vita is a benchmark movie for many, but Carlo Ponti produced some memorable films too.
