Case of Mixed English: Racism: Correction

What is race?
Quite simply, it's the classification of a species.
So, why is it, that when people talk about the tone of other people's skin, they call that race?

Long spread misnomers, I blame religion mostly on this crap.
Racism would apply to other species, not skin tone/nationality.

So, you might be asking what would be correct in its' place.
Simple; the term is 'ethnicism'.

I'm not sure if its that easy to classify what race is because Judaism is considered a race but they don't have a specific skin tone.

@Amyrakunejo
Weren't most Jewish people Persian ethnicity? (fairly dark skin)

No. Judaism originated in the Levant, by a tribe that migrated from present day Iraq.

At one point, about 3,000 years ago, Jews were expelled from present-day Israel to what today is Iran.

There are darker skin Jews (from the Levant region), black Jews (Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan). They were mostly evacuated to Israel in modern times.

Ashkenazi Jews are European Jews. They originated when The Romans sacked Jerusalem, multiple times, and the remaining Jews, who were already spread throughout the Roman Empire as slaves. Around the 2nd century, they started spreading out through Western and Eastern Europe.

@Amyrakunejo No the Hebrews were Semetic in origin not Persian. Neidther of which are particularly dark skinned.
@Northwest Regional Clan migration is a mess, to put it very lightly, and very hard to follow.
Human is the race..
the rest is division

Personally I think the differentiation of "race" in itself is the problem. I don't like being refered to as white, I feel uncomfortable referring others as black and such. It's just a weird thing to bring up in itself.

We seem stuck on that these days.
@Ryannnnnn I just go with lighter or darker skin tone or with a known ethnicity.

when people talk about the tone of other people's skin, they call that race?

Because it is part of the classification.

What is race?

"Racism" is not the same as "race" classification.

Tracking racial information has its practical and important purposes, medical is chief among them. Racism to justify hate, obviously is not one of them.

So you have no idea that because of Christianity you are thinking as you are. Racism is an evil according the Christian teaching. St Paul said so in the Bible. In animal husbandry we call it breeds. What breed of cow or horse or dog is that.

Go to Africa or Asia and they will promptly tell you what race is.
@revenant When the Saxons fled from the Romans, a lot of them fled east and mingled with the Asians. Or, they fled west, and eventually made it in part to North America.

@Amyrakunejo what is your point ?
@revenant Just sharing something I know.

to me it would just be more easy to say race instead of ethnicism
Ahhhh, yes, the misnomers.

I blame human nature which is tribal
