Give me a proverb and I will tell you its equivalent in a different language or culture

" arab proverb الركلة القوية دايما تجيك من الحمار لي دلعته"

"The strongest kick comes from the donkey you spoiled the most."

It is the same as "no good deed goes unpunished "

@Elessar it means?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@darshak89 Oh, the translation is below, i.e. Who's born donkey won't die a horse

Can be interpreted as, "if one's born naive, won't die smart" but I guess also "if one's born poor, won't die rich"
darshak89 · 31-35, M
@Elessar but bro elon musk was not born rich but he will die rich.😜😜😜
Elessar · 26-30, M
@darshak89 Elon Musk was definitely born rich. His family owned an emerald mine..
darshak89 · 31-35, M
@Elessar i heard he was not born in rich family. But may be i heard wrong..

Do you know about Reliance industry

Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani (28 December 1932 – 6 July 2002), popularly known as Dhirubhai Ambani, was an Indian business tycoon who founded Reliance Industries. Ambani took Reliance public in 1977 and was worth US$2.9 billion in 2002 upon his death. In 2016, he was honoured posthumously with the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour for his contributions to trade and industry.

This man started his career as a gasoline station's feeling boy.. he was very poor and when he died he was millionaire.

I kinda understand this proverb definitely @Elessar

Like the truth of someone doesn't change and accepting life's flow instead of resisting?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@darshak89 He's admitted himself to owning an emerald mine, only to do a 180° backflip and deny it when he realized the myth of the "self made billionaire" was no more. I've seen this happening with many wealthy/powerful individuals (Trump, Berlusconi come to mind), and then it always turns out their daddy handed them money or they would be perfect nobodys.

So for any billionaire who claims to be "self-made", I'll raise an eyebrow and question where the money really came out of.
darshak89 · 31-35, M
@Elessar its also similar with this proverb famous here in India.

कुत्ते की दुम टेढ़ी की टेढ़ी
kutte kee dum tedhee kee tedhee

dog's tail crooked
Elessar · 26-30, M
@darshak89 Isn't that more akin to "old habits die hard"?
darshak89 · 31-35, M
