Proverbs 9:10
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

@Miram is it me or is it very hard to copy Arabic text on here? The highlight always gets flipped and messes me up
kamikaze2891 · 31-35, M
@Miram you translate it wrong

@Miram بداية الحكمة مخافة الله،ومعرفة الله هي الفهم

@deadgerbil it's probably because Arabic is written right to left

@HijabaDabbaDoo that might be it. I can do it fine on my laptop but when I do it on my phone, everything freaks out and it highlights other shit and the page suddenly scrolls all the way to the bottom

@SW-User Yes, thank you. I am not using word per word. I am trying to use the closest in meaning.
That Quranic verse felt like the closest to bible verse because it attaches wisdom to knowing god and fear.

@deadgerbil
I use keyboard to write. When I copy, I can't use English or french with it. It does get weird in some apps. Not sure why.

@deadgerbil Read this while semi asleep, my eyes crossed, and I've read "The Holy Hole"
Imma go to the church and confess 🥴

@deadgerbil The Bible is the most translated book in the world as far as I know. If you pick a proverb from there, you're guaranteed to be able to find it in many other languages. 😋
Miram · 31-35, F
@Classified You will find them but not necessarily because it is from the bible. Wisdoms and stories aren't exclusive to christianity. Humans tend to advance in similar patterns. And many proceed christianity too.

@Miram Still it's easiest to check the Bible for a translated proverb if you take a proverb from the Bible. 🤔
Miram · 31-35, F
@Classified Very self limited. There is more to the world than one book.
And easiness depends on capabilities 😜

@Miram I didn't know I was supposed to look in multiple places. I thought we were just trying to find a proverb in a different language.
I only know two languages well. My capability to find a proverb in a different language is limited.

Were you saying that the translation shows the proverbs in other cultures of the target language? @Classified
If so I initially misunderstood you

@Miram No, the Bible has it's own culture, I think. I just pointed out that for Biblical proverbs it's very easy to find a similar (or actually literally the same) proverb in a different language. 😅
