Hey blueskyking please stop defending a slave master known as Thomas Jefferson

https://similarworlds.com/beliefs/4672691-Happy-Birthday-Thomas-Jefferson-On-this-date-in-1743-Thomas

He owned 600-700+ slaves.

And Sam Harris was a racist that believed that white men have higher IQs than other races.

Stop defending bigots whether they're religious bigots or secular bigots.

People need to stop treating the American founding fathers as saints. A bunch of slave-driving plantation owners whose ideas about freedom were narrowly restricted to white male landlords.

@CountScrofula Agreed. And I especially hate when people say, "you can’t judge the past by today’s standards !" Slavery as a bad thing is not a modern concept—the Revolutionary War happened because they didn’t want to be under someone else’s control; they understood the concept of freedom for themselves. Plus, there were active abolitionists, and slave "uprisings".
What I hear when someone tries to defend slaveowners based on different times is "It’s not their fault that they didn’t consider people like you human beings."
If not, whose fault was it ? Hell, yeah I can judge that—and I do. 🤨

@bijouxbroussard Also it's just a bad argument and ahistorical, it wasn't particularly rare to be an abolitionist even in those days.
