Well whatever you do, don't take the story at face value. It can't possibly be true.
Run it through your internal biases and prejudices and come up with a narrative that suits your existing belief system!
Stay woke! 👍

@SumKindaMunster I have kept that in mind, and I noticed that Joe Rogan, one of the sources you mentioned, is unhappy about the new right-wing cancel culture phenomenon after the Charlie Kirk murder. I was wondering whether you agree with him on that.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@ThePatientAnarchist I'm not sure what you are talking about. Rogan is usually pragmatic about things. Is there something specific you are referring to?

So the security guard didn't say there was an uptick in shoplifting. He didn't say there were more assaults. No mention of any kind of crime at all.
He simply justified his presence and that of his fellow officers by saying there were more of "them" around.
Otherism is seriously one of the biggest challenges facing our societies. 😔

Oh @sarabee1995 that is such a telling observation. I made the mental jump to the idea that there must have been some kind of uptick in crime, but you are right, the only justification he gave was "lots of them around" :(

I’m not shocked, as an indigenous person from the US.

@ThePatientAnarchist Lateral violence isn’t something people really think about unless they have to confront it in their daily lives. So yes, it does get complicated.

@SwampFlower I really appreciate your sharing a bit of your perspective, thank you.

@ThePatientAnarchist For the record, this is something I have to speak out about to my own community, too. It doesn’t go just one way.
And no problem.

@beermeplease Indo-Canadian gangs take the lead in drug trafficking, extortion and terrorism (India-based Lawrence Bishnoi gang for extorting and intimidating B.C.'s South Asian community). And let's not forget the "Vancouver Model" (Chinese based drug pushing, money laundering and extortion).
While First Nations may have a higher addiction rate, they don't seem to be involved in the above.

Additionally poverty and cuts to domestic humanitarian programs, spearheaded by conservative republicans are the most blameworthy of actions/actors.

Because fruit trees abound .. and people are generous.

Lot of republicans/conservatives (Trumpers and Facists especifically; though politicians in general) love to scapegoat. Or use one thing to justify and distract from what was already the main goal to justify blatant disregard of existing “policy” and rules/regulations. It is despicable
Why is it complicated?

@V00doo I was struck by the Black security guard, who is working, probably at close to minimum wage, for a company whose top bosses are white people, blaming the apparent need for his services on Indigenous people. On some level, I would have expected to see soliidarity between people belonging to racialized minorities that face a lot of discrimination.
