I really can't stand my coworker's barely-subtle racism anymore

She's MAGA of course, and ever since the last election, I've noticed a definite increase in her not-so-subtle racial comments. Oh she's subtle enough to not get called into HR office, but her comments are still obvious enough to really just put me off talking to her altogether.

She knows I am not part of the MAGA cult, and she's always saying, "Oh I can be friends with people who don't share my political beliefs, everyone is allowed to think for themselves". Okay fine, but at this point, it's not even comfortable having conversations with you because of all the sly insinuating remarks any time a person of another ethnicity calls you (we work at a call center and get calls from all over the world, including LEGAL U.S. immigrants). She expresses her CLEAR distaste for these people not only with her comments, but also the rude tone she takes on the call. Never rude enough to be called out by QA of course. But there is an obvious difference in tone when she's speaking to a person of another ethnicity vs a person who sounds like they're from the Midwest. 🙄

I've been distancing myself from her and I think she has noticed but IDC. I can't be friends with anyone who is MAGA. It's not just their politics that are different - it's their entire way of thinking about life itself. Hard pass.

First of all, have you expressed to her the fact that her behavior disturbs you? Secondly, it sounds like you need to continue to distance yourself from her. Also, if her remarks are subtle, approach HR, explain ok r write down the incident as it happened : dY, date, time, exact words used, and proceed from there. Also, if you feelbseriously uncomfortable with this individual, bring it to you manager and seek their guidance in this matter.
