You mean anti war demonstrators given Israels war crimes.,

@trollslayer But leave they did and rather than try to build a civil society Hamas took much of the money and created a huge military base. Bibi did seem to fund Hamas as a counter to the PA and I make no excuse for that. I am not a Bibi supporter.

@Bumbles and that leaving was an unpopular move in israel. Israel is quite smart - smarter than the USA i this area - I have to think they anticipated Hamas taking over because it would be stupid of them to not anticipate that.

@trollslayer The vote took place after the the second intifada, the death of Arafat, and the 2005 Israeli withdrawal of troops and settlers from the Gaza Strip. I don’t see where Israel knew the outcome or helped Hamas at the time.

Israel had to remove settlements when it withdrew, too.

Not exactly what happened. But a local MAGA AM Radio host, claimed this is what happened, and then it was carried out by Fox, and of course, if Fox says it, it must be true.

In reality, a progressive group, at the U. of Washington, called for an encampment, without consulting any of the parties on whose behalf it was trying to protest, and most importantly, did not try to coordinate security for the event, forcing the campus police to meet with Jewish student groups, to see if they have concerns. Never mind that the guy who tried to organize the thing is Jewish.

@Northwest when I read who is organizing the various protests, it seems half are jewish groups. Does this sound accurate? Its been interesting and informative to go to their websites and read their mission statements.

Yes.

People should actually try to figure out what the issue is all about, before ridiculing it, but it's clear that people are not going to try to investigate something that enforces their "dog whistle".

@Northwest one of the Jewish groups protesting at columbia has a very well-written description of Israeli politics and history and how they feel it disagrees with their Jewish faith. It was quite different than the perspective that you would hear from their parents. I can imagine their family dinners are quite heated.
