Thomas Jefferson was a slave owner, stop defending him

Blue sky king defending slave owners. He owned 600+ slaves not a good role model. And he got a 13 year old pregnant what a sick rapist.

Lol almost all nobles in the middle ages were slave owners. It was just so common place noone talks about it. Before machinery, thats who grew the food and built the buildings. If you lost a war, you were captured. If you lived on the edge of a village, you could be captured. If you were walking to another town and were met by bandits, you were captured. The pyramids weren't built by pharos. America wasnt built by americans. Infact if you think your family line is 100% american it means your british.
@GuyWithOpinions The United States, supposedly founded on principles of "freedom" is the place where slavery never should’ve existed. Even the words of the national anthem most Americans would never replace or update ("for the land of the free and the home of the brave") were penned by a slave-owning attorney who only believed in assisting slaves seeking freedom if they wanted to "return" to Africa.

@bijouxbroussard almost every nation since the dawn of civilization had slaves. We have machines now so we should just let it go.
@GuyWithOpinions Again, the United States is the one place it should never have happened. And as long as the fallout continues, we will never "let it go". Believe that.

@bijouxbroussard politicians lie. Or else we wouldnt be where we are.the best way to keep a slave population in check is convince them they are free. If you took someone from the 1800s and brought them to this era they would think we are crazy zombie slaves addicted to money.

But to us it's our regular way of life. We don't know any better cause we were born into it.
@GuyWithOpinions Slavery existed. That was no lie. The lies now are by politicians trying to repackage it as having been a positive thing. And that is something I never thought I’d see in modern times. 😳

@bijouxbroussard i just dont watch the news anymore.
@GuyWithOpinions That’s totally understandable.
Generally, it’s the bad news, anyway.
