How was he racist?

Amylynne · 26-30, F
I have read that he was.. good case for it too but was he an active member of any fascist groups or the KKK? cant say i have heard that
mind, he did come from a time and place where such beliefs were commonplace and frankly acceptable hard tof fnd any one ine the country at the time that was not institutionally racist

Yes he was. He believed minorities and immigrants were less then him and were a plague on society. He was also afraid of them and he grew to become agoraphobic. H.P.Lovecraft had a lot of problems. That being said. I still love his Shadow Over Innsmouth book...

yes, everyone from before the 21st century was a racist
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Yep, he was.
I can separate the art from the artist though, as he's gone and dead and doesn't receive jack shit for his work anymore. But yeah, he was racist.

Quickly skimming through his wiki, yes he was, but that's really to be expected from someone living back then so it's like meh

He's weird for sure.

It depends on who you ask. Some people say yes, some say no. I say he was a product of his time. He didn't name that black cat the N-word because he hated POCs, but he did portray Islanders and other minorities as primitive and simplistic. Which is absolutely not okay, but it was more evidence that he was taught racist propaganda than anything else.
