People dismissing transgendered people as merely mentally ill is pretty offensive when you think about it

And I don't just mean to transgender people... Yes, gender dysphoria is technically a mental disorder and those with it commonly identify as transgender. But it's rather disgusting when one adopts the mentality toward transgendered individuals like "Oh, they're just crazy," and often cite gender dysphoria being a mental illness as validity of their claims. Depression and anxiety disorders are also mental illnesses. OCD, PTSD, the whole autism spectrum... Should all those people be easily dismissed as just plain nuts as well? It just goes to show the sheer ignorance and lack of empathy such individuals have. Pretty ironic how some go as far as to consider transgender people not people at all when the only primitive subhumans are themselves.
