A Comprehensive Explanation of Race in America in only 17 Minutes

[media=https://youtu.be/AGUwcs9qJXY]

If you ever watched Veggie Tales back in the days, this is the voice of Bob the Tomato. He is a conservative Christian. This is the best presentations about race that is aimed at a white audience that I've ever seen.

I'm thinking about this again after Jayland Walker. My heart is breaking.

I'm surprised. Most conservatives don't believe it or acknowledge these facts.

Alot of conservatives try to bury talking about it and try to excuse the policies and excuse the racist attitudes. Some Democrats do too.

Racial disparities in my city are known to be quite severe, deeply rooted, and they persist.

But this is also so across the country.
It has greatly troubled me since I was 12. When I first started to really see how differently people were treated purely on race. And how much It effects everything. My friends are treated and suffer unfairly because of their skin color and I hate it so much. It's not right.

And it will continue unless everyone cares.and does something about it. We have to change things for the better.

@Scribbles I get why conservative Christians are opposed to LGBTQ rights. Not that I agree, but at least I get it. But race? I really don't understand. This should be an open-and-shut case. It's like, just read your damn Bible, guys.

I am aware of the racial disparities around your city, and it is not okay. I'm not sure what to do to start moving the needle towards justice. At the very least, it starts with what he said in the video. Care.
@ShadowSister Conservatives are traditionalists, and unfortunately racism is a long-standing tradition here. There’s even Scripture that can support it, just as there was Scripture supporting slavery. Those slave owners certainly considered themselves Christians.
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@bijouxbroussard There are absolutely scriptures that support the institution of slavery. Those passages are gross and disgusting. However, there is no support for any form of racial discrimination in the New Testament, and several passages which are highly critical of racism. For anyone who is honestly seeking to follow what the Bible says, racial justice should be a no-brainer.
It’s surprising that a conservative is aware of this history, and relays it so frankly. There are many conservatives who are trying to bury this information now so they don’t have to explain it to their grandchildren.

@bijouxbroussard He took a lot of heat for this video, which is why he is one of the few conservative Christians I still follow. I see him actively trying to put Jesus in front of politics-as-usual.

Thank you for posting this. I wish many, many more would actually watch it... and care.
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@Ontheroad ...And care. Yes, exactly.

No one cares about this whole woke trash talk but racists and race hustlers.

I don't call my friends by their color and my feelings would not be hurt if they called me by mine.

I would just know they be ignorant to care what color I am.

Nuff said.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@ShadowSister Not when a person chooses to remain an evil person that promotes societal division on behalf of those who profit from it.
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@SteelHands Ahhh, I hadn't thought of that. Great point. I will tell all my friends that I've completely changed my mind. And when they ask why, I will tell them because a stranger on the internet called me a hypocrite and evil. And how could I ever hope to contend with such logic?

Have a good night, Steely. Be well.

We used to watch Veggie Tales when my son was little. The early ones were clever and other than quoting a Bible verse, didn't shove religion down your throat. The recent ones are unwatchable.

@LeopoldBloom I used to watch Veggie Tales back in college. I would play those early episodes for my church friends. We thought they were a riot. Since then, I have grown a lot more skeptical of religious folks, but I really like Phil Vischer. I think he is the best of what the Evangelical church has to offer.
Nobody wants a solution to the class war! Except the majority. Laughing at the majority and its problem is conservative, so we do that here! It's a conservative site on conservative internet -. Private property public space, owned.
Pone the libs!!!
Inequality and exploitation can end. Lol! Murka would rather die.

@Roundandroundwego The greatest predictor of success in life is a sense of responsibility and orderliness, not race. Blaming, excusing, refusal to hold a person accountable for self agency is just another form of evil.
