I Have Honest Questions For Black People

Why are there no black people running for president right now? Too smart? Was Obama just a fluke?

Back then there was Ben Carson, wasn’t there ? Cory Booker ? Remember them ? To run doesn’t guarantee becoming the candidate. Obama was treated pretty crappily. I’m not sure who’d want the job after seeing that.
@bijouxbroussard My honest first thought when Obama was elected, there will be backlash from people who don't accept a black president. I think history will show the US elected a racist after.
@thewindupbirdchronicles Yes. I hoped it wouldn’t be so, but that’s exactly what happened. And while Obama was president the GOP and outside agitators like Trump were determined to obstruct any things he attempted to do, even things that would’ve benefited our country.
@bijouxbroussard I don't want to talk too much about American politics, but I remember Obama offering essentially Amnesty to all illegal immigrants, allowing them to register and become an American, instead of being prosecuted which costs America money. That was so long ago, of course, Trump reversed, and I haven't heard Biden be as brave as that. I honestly feel the Democrats chose a safe, moderate choice for now.

I just remember some saying the race war has been won when Obama was elected, and I had a bad feeling it was just taking another form.

You weren’t wrong. I know this was an old post, but the racism in this country has never gone away, and it wasn’t enough to elect a black person as president, since he was never treated with the same respect by the government that previous presidents had been. The GOP even stated their goal to make him a "one-term president" without even attempting to work with him.

In regard to immigration, Obama followed existing law and did not stop people here illegally from being deported when it was part of the legal process. Even the conservatives admitted this, but never praised him for it, even though it was supposedly what they wanted.
As for the amnesty, it was Ronald Reagan (conservative hero) who had initially provided an amnesty law in 1986 protecting those in the country before 1986 with the proviso that penalized employers hiring illegal immigrants.

The flaw was that those restrictions on employers were stripped out of the bill when it was passed, so they continued to hire the undocumented with impunity, which was the incentive for more to come.
