(This post made me cry so hard this morning that I scared my brother. But both he and I are members of Ashley’s mother’s generation, so we remember the experience of school integration and being so hated. We remember the stories by our parents and grandparents. I posted about Mary Turner on EP once and someone got the story removed. This history is difficult. But it puts what the Trump administration has been doing in context, and is why he has proven both himself and anyone who still supports him white supremacists.—bb)

Yes, he was black!

What I sadly never brought up in that story was not the owner of the apartment, nor the VA itself really cared.

Yeah the VA itself. Please keep in mind that temperatures here get above 120°f and that that story was posted in August of 2024.

What happened? I was put under observation for mental health for even saying anything about it to the VA! 🤬

They still never got back to me, on if any friends or family where notified.

The owner? She moved in a white lady the wasn't even a veteran. All of us were veterans before that. Even before I moved in.

Now why is this important beyond being black? She refused to switch apartments with him. My place is bigger and more private. So are the other two white veterans places.

This even made my eyes mist up.

She nailed it, and she put it all together in an incredibly cogent way.

It made me realize things I didn't know that I already knew. That is, she connected some dots for me.

And then I think about SW users (most of whom you probably have blocked) who complain that Blacks today feel "entitled" due to "past wrongs." 🙄
