UK planning to leave the European Court of Human Rights?

FIRST THEY CAME – BY PASTOR MARTIN NIEMÖLLER

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

If they leave it then that would be the second biggest mistake this country ever made....

@braveheart21 why do you think this? what caused you to write this?
braveheart21 · 61-69, M
@strait46 because we all need to protect human rights everywhere and the European Court is some peoples last place of defence against human rights violations... Or do you want more Tianamen square type demonstrations around the world

@braveheart21 i thought UK had such laws and will judge crimes internally. what do you mean defence against violations?
in the big picture only nazi type law prevented courts from judging human rights then international court is needed but not for u.k.

@strait46 most normal courts in the UK/USA are basically criminal courts not set up or trained to deal human rights violations... The court in the Hague was set up to deal with those problems from all over Europe... That is the big difference
