The real problem with ICE detention centers

ICE is holding people for immigration violations at great expense and much controversy. Why?

The solution is obvious to me.

The problem with the detention centers is that they exist.

When a person is found to be in the country illegally, they should be loaded onto a bus and sent back where they came from. Right on the spot. No delay. No foot dragging. Just ship them right off.

Sooooo no due process? Detention centers exist bc people are awaiting their court date. Imagine being detained by agents of the state and just immediately being sent to Mexico just bc you dont have your birth certificate on you.

@BlueVeins Due process is for citizens and legal residents.
BlueVeins · 26-30
@justbob If you're not giving people a chance to prove that they're legal residents, then due process is for nobody.
@justbob The Constitution requires due process for all persons in the US, not just citizens.

It's amazing how people who claim to revere the Constitution haven't even read it. Maybe we should require basic constitutional knowledge for people to vote, but if we did that, hardly any MAGAs would be able to vote.

False, habeas corpus applies to ANYONE on US soil.
That's literally in the Constitution as devised by the Founding Fathers.
MarineBob · 61-69, M
@BlueVeins they waived due process by being here illegally

@LeopoldBloom most of rhem, like dozing demented don have a very limited reading span!

@MarineBob false. You can't waive a basic constitutional right. By the US Constitution, it was proclaimed that those rights are God given.
Trump is not God. If you think he is, you're an Idolater.
BlueVeins · 26-30
@MarineBob If that's the case, the burden of proof is on the State to prove that you're here illegally. And proving that involves due process, so it's kind of a self-defeating idea.

The other two are right, btw, that the Constitution says otherwise. But I just want to make it clear to you that the world you want involves stripping literally all Americans of our rights, including yourself.

@BlueVeins to add to this - most Republics operate under the maxim "innocent until proven guilty".

Republicans want "guilty until proven innocent" on the basis of skin colour.

@BlueVeins the Constitution/Law should be changed so that ANYONE that doesn't abide by 'due process' to get into the country, shouldn't be allowed to invoke it to stay in ... it's not Rocket Science

or

The administration should give an amnesty to all providing they vote Republican, the Hypocrats will then INSTANTLY want them ALL removed, even bypassing this 'due process' nonsense to facilitate their removal
