The Immigrants Issue and Protests

Today, I watched this video, and it highlighted a vital aspect that I actually agree with. I am an immigrant myself in a foreign nation, and I have been groomed to think and live the way the others in my nation do. I respect the laws of the country I live in, and my home country is hardly on my mind during my routine life. Simply because from day one I was taught when in Rome, do as Romans do. Of course, if there's something I disagree with, I politely and respectfully put my point across. I am assertive if the other individual is assertive. I don't mind being defensive to the aggressive tactics of obnoxious individuals as well, if they ask for it.

Well, the point I am trying to highlight is that immigrants who decide to move and live in a foreign country must know the art of mingling and respecting and understanding the culture, society norms, law and lifestyle of the foreign nations they are migrating to. Being an immigrant, I do not like the immigrants who move to a foreign nation but do not wish to adapt to the ways of the foreign country they are migrating to. There are lots of immigrants, especially from countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Congo, Ghana, Nigeria, etc. I have nothing against them, but what I despise is the set of individuals who wish to build a home country in a foreign nation and live in it like their home country. The point is if you really love your home country a lot, then why the heck did you decide to move to and make a living in a foreign nation? You could have happily stayed in your country and continued with the ways of your country, but you opted to move to another nation in search of better. Now that you're in a country where you will find better, live and adapt to the ways of that country, and leave the traditional ways where you came from. By always sticking to your native roots, you'll never be seen as the one from the country you moved to. You will always be seen as a foreigner, and the natives of that country will question and see you with suspicion.

Governments across the globe should be stringent when it comes to immigration, and they should keep a close watch on immigrants. Also, the governments of other countries should not take advantage of the disrupted political and socio-economic state of countries because this is indeed one of the key reasons for illegal immigration. When a country with funds and resources destroys a country that has something in abundance that they believe belongs to them and they can acquire it with unlawful and unethical means, it causes havoc in that country, and the people of that land leave their homeland in search of better. Some easily mingle with the people of the country they move to, but some don't. The lot that chooses not to mingle becomes the target after some time. People of the country you migrate to will not ignore your traditional ways forever. They will question your ways of living if you don't wish to respect, understand, and adapt to the widely accepted society norms and ways of living of that country.

This is exactly why immigrants, be they legal or illegal, are being targeted today in several countries. Immigrants who move to other nations must learn and speak the language of the country they are moving to. Half the battle is already won if you talk like people of that country do. Gradually transit into the society of that country, and let the next generation be and live like the people of the country you moved to. Please do not compel the next generation to stick to the native roots and all that crap. If you really care a lot about the native roots, traditions and customs, then you must go back to where you came from as soon as possible.

This is my perspective. If you disagree with it, it is absolutely fine. Your life, your ways, but embrace the fact that your immigrant mindset will only cause trouble for you unless you change yourself. Fact: take it or leave it!

Lastly, governments that do not like immigrants may deport them but shouldn't be violent during the process. Such actions have further consequences. Nab them, apprehend them, deport them, but don't use unnecessary force and violence. Also, don't assume that the legal ones are also the illegal ones. There are several civilised ways to distinguish people other than just by looking at the colour of the skin and facial features.

If the things they do in their own culture don't hurt anyone else, I don't see no reason to not keep your own culture. I'm for open dialogue always. If there's anything I don't understand I like to ask or find out. I don't really see why people need to mingle though. You don't need to be an extrovert to live here.

I have nothing against them, but what I despise is the set of individuals who wish to build a home country in a foreign nation and live in it like their home country.

But can you name examples? For me personally this seems too vague like a group was trying to take over America by making it their country. Which group and what did they take over with? Because I missed that if that's the case.

Actually America already was strict, it's too strict. We have the world's most messed up laws on immigration. If anything, we could work on streamlining our process while also simultaneously having stricter border enforcement. Those two together work.

Here's good link on what is wrong with our system:

https://www.cato.org/policy-analysis/why-legal-immigration-nearly-impossible

While the United States has dithered for decades about how best to address immigration and its labor force needs, many other countries have opened their doors to new arrivals and are now surpassing the United States in attracting immigrants from across the skills spectrum. Whether scientists or home health aides, other countries are now offering better options for immigrant workers.

Why is the United States falling behind in attracting immigrants?

The basic answer is that the United States has a very restrictive legal immigration system. The basic structure of U.S. immigration policy—which has remained virtually unchanged since the 1960s—permits permanent legal immigration from abroad only by a narrow set of categories

I think this is called a justification for racism and bigotry. All of what you say is very generalized while ignoring certain aspects like countries that are very far right wing targeting certain groups because they don't want other cultures around. Sometimes and this is a hard fact to accept, people just hate others for existing as they are. These people will never be happy.

Suppose you know both Spanish and English but you talk Spanish with your mother who only knows Spanish and an anti immigrant person gets offended that you speak Spanish. Even if you speak English well, some people will always be angry regardless whether you speak English well or not. They just don't want you around.

Sometimes what people say is the issue isn't the issue at all and I find that believing everything people say is the issue is naive.

@SatanBurger I beg to differ with most of what you wrote, but I respect your perspective. 🤝

If there's anything I don't understand I like to ask or find out. I don't really see why people need to mingle though. You don't need to be an extrovert to live here.

Well, I never saw descendants of colonisers dancing around the ceremonial fire like Indians and adapting to their ways of living. Colonisers rather compelled Native American Indians to adapt to their ways by encroaching on their land and taking away what always belonged to them. I wish something was done about this aspect then, but nothing happened. Therefore, America and the world embraced the world and decorum of widely accepted ways of living of the civilised society built by the so-called founders and key people amongst the colonisers.

Mingling doesn't mean literal mingling. It is absolutely fine! If somebody wishes to practise their culture within the walls of his/her house. His/her ways will never be understood once he/she is out of his/her house. One has to adapt to the ways of living and widely accepted society norms to leave an impression of being a native. Being an extrovert isn't necessary but is helpful if you're one. 😇

But can you name examples? For me personally this seems too vague like a group was trying to take over America by making it their country. Which group and what did they take over with? Because I missed that if that's the case.

Have you been to Europe? Just visit Paris one day, and see the images of what Paris used to be until the 80s and what it is today. Then, head to Germany, Italy and Belgium. Finally, visit Spain. You'll find ample locations where you'll only find immigrants, not natives. This is the reason why far-right sentiment in Europe is on the rise. No country will ever tolerate more immigrants than the natives. Especially when immigrants wish to build their home country in their country and live like their home country.

There's a famous hood in Brooklyn that belongs to Pakistanis. It was once a property of Italian immigrants who are now recognised as Americans because they mingled. Though, the history of Italians (especially Sicilians) in America is quite controversial. Well, even they were never welcomed by the society that was built by the founding fathers. Italians did change when their Godfather, Al Capone, was nabbed by the authorities, but that's a different story altogether. There are several locations in New Jersey that now belong only to the Indians. Trust me, both Pakistanis and Indians turn a foreign location into their home country wherever they go. The UK is suffering because of this aspect. This is why people of the UK wish to throw out all the immigrants. Immigrants and their ways of living are responsible for this issue today. Fact: take it or leave it! (I mean it in a respectful way.)

This is not racism at all. If you see it as racism. Fine! I am an immigrant in a foreign nation, and I don't see this as racism at all. It's my moral duty to understand, respect and live according to the ways of living of the country I live in. I wouldn't mind speaking to my mother in Spanish, but then I'll also ensure that I speak in the native language if I have natives around me. This way even the unwelcoming ones wouldn't have anything to say against us.

Some people not recognising a genuine issue as an issue is also being naive. Like I said, I beg to differ with most of what you wrote, but I respect your perspective. You be happy with yours, and I'll be happy with mine. 😇

And what societal norms do we have in America that immigrants should adapt to?

I tried asking you specific questions you didn't answer because I was curious. They already have McDonald's and Walmarts in most parts of the world so what things in American culture specifically are people not adapting to and what was the American culture before immigrants?

Because you still didn't answer.
SoLeRiMix · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger Ma'am, I have answered all your questions with my perspective. You're limiting yourself to America, while I am talking about the immigrant issue in several countries. There is a huge percentage of immigrants who do not wish to learn the language of the nation they migrate to; they want special rights for themselves, they want secluded spaces for themselves, they want to practise the laws of their country in the country they migrate to, they always exhibit themselves as proud natives of where they come from, and they want natives of the country they migrate to to mould themselves as per their wishes.

I saw a video a few years ago where a group of Muslim men who see themselves as the caretakers of the community tell a British lady in Birmingham not to wear short skirts because the block she lived in was predominantly Muslim, and as per Sharia, a woman should dress properly. In Germany, several women have been assaulted by the immigrants of Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan, etc. In Belgium, immigrants from underdeveloped countries are promoting prostitution and drug trafficking. I am also against the crimes committed by the natives of a country. A criminal is a criminal irrespective of what background he/she is from.

I completely understand that not all immigrants support the unlawful ways of living, but the ones who do shouldn't be ignored. I feel sorry for the ones who suffer because of the culprits, but the ones who withstand antisocial ones do nothing to stop them. Therefore, they have to bear the consequences as well.

Also, I do not appreciate the special treatment given to Zionists in various countries. When they commit a crime, everybody turns around, but when someone retaliates to their atrocities, he/she is nabbed quickly. Not all Jews have the mindset of the chosen ones, but most of them live with this mindset.

I do not have issues with immigrants who dress, talk, live and respect the laws of the country they migrate to, but I will never appreciate the immigrants who wish to stick to their homeland even after migrating to another country. If they wish to live that way, then they should go back to where they came from. Simple!

I believe I have answered all your questions now. If you still don't find your answer, then please let's conclude the discussion right here. I never asked you to change your cognitive process. You may continue to live with what you like, and I'll continue to live the way I want to. Finally, I am not an American, but I do have family and friends based in the USA! I do not take their words for granted. I talk only after doing some research. 🤝

@SoLeRiMix So you can't answer what American culture is then? I'm genuinely wondering what specfic things immigrants should adhere to while ignoring their own culture because whatever country they settle down in is so unique. If the attitudes of a major populace are racist should the immigrants learn to be racist to fit in or what. I'm confused by the etiquette that immigrants should practice that would deem it okay in your eyes.

Also prostitution has nothing to do with culture, that's a home grown thing, immigrants promoting sex work isn't a thing that's done culturally.
SoLeRiMix · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger It's fine! You wish to ignore the issues. You may continue to do so. You may continue to live with what you like, and I'll continue to live the way I want to. Let's conclude this right here. I hope you find answers (that were always right in front of your eyes) to your questions. Thank you!

@SoLeRiMix Hate to tell you this but home grown citizens commit more crimes this is backed up by statistics. Yup bad immigrants sometimes and yup bad citizens sometimes.

People are always going to celebrate their own culture and I'm here for it. Where would we be without different cultures food or holidays. We would be bland.

This is exactly why I said criminals, irrespective of what background they are from, are criminals. No mercy for them, be they the natives or immigrants. However, an immigrant population with a significant number of antisocial elements should be as alarming as the rising percentage of native criminals. Most immigrant criminals work for native crime syndicates (organised crime).

People are always going to celebrate their own culture and I'm here for it. Where would we be without different cultures food or holidays. We would be bland.

It's fine with me! I beg to differ with you on certain aspects, but I respect your perspective. I am not against diversity. What I am against is the diversity sticking to their roots in every way after migrating to a country where the society is different.

I wouldn't have any issues if I saw an immigrant (irrespective of his/her colour, race, religion, community, etc.) dressed like others around him, as civilised as others and talking like others. However, if I saw one dressed as an individual of the country he/she is from, boasting about where he/she is from, and barely talking like others the country he/she has migrated to, I will change the course of my path, and will support the group that is against such individuals.

I respect the individuals who make efforts to talk like others of the country they migrated to. I respect the immigrants who understand and value the laws and societal norms of the country they migrate to, but the ones who do not wish to – I don't like them at all.

Filipinos are the best at mingling and adapting to the ways of living of the country they migrate to. 😇
