The Immigrants Issue and Protests
Today, I watched this video, and it highlighted a vital aspect that I actually agree with. I am an immigrant myself in a foreign nation, and I have been groomed to think and live the way the others in my nation do. I respect the laws of the country I live in, and my home country is hardly on my mind during my routine life. Simply because from day one I was taught when in Rome, do as Romans do. Of course, if there's something I disagree with, I politely and respectfully put my point across. I am assertive if the other individual is assertive. I don't mind being defensive to the aggressive tactics of obnoxious individuals as well, if they ask for it.
Well, the point I am trying to highlight is that immigrants who decide to move and live in a foreign country must know the art of mingling and respecting and understanding the culture, society norms, law and lifestyle of the foreign nations they are migrating to. Being an immigrant, I do not like the immigrants who move to a foreign nation but do not wish to adapt to the ways of the foreign country they are migrating to. There are lots of immigrants, especially from countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Congo, Ghana, Nigeria, etc. I have nothing against them, but what I despise is the set of individuals who wish to build a home country in a foreign nation and live in it like their home country. The point is if you really love your home country a lot, then why the heck did you decide to move to and make a living in a foreign nation? You could have happily stayed in your country and continued with the ways of your country, but you opted to move to another nation in search of better. Now that you're in a country where you will find better, live and adapt to the ways of that country, and leave the traditional ways where you came from. By always sticking to your native roots, you'll never be seen as the one from the country you moved to. You will always be seen as a foreigner, and the natives of that country will question and see you with suspicion.
Governments across the globe should be stringent when it comes to immigration, and they should keep a close watch on immigrants. Also, the governments of other countries should not take advantage of the disrupted political and socio-economic state of countries because this is indeed one of the key reasons for illegal immigration. When a country with funds and resources destroys a country that has something in abundance that they believe belongs to them and they can acquire it with unlawful and unethical means, it causes havoc in that country, and the people of that land leave their homeland in search of better. Some easily mingle with the people of the country they move to, but some don't. The lot that chooses not to mingle becomes the target after some time. People of the country you migrate to will not ignore your traditional ways forever. They will question your ways of living if you don't wish to respect, understand, and adapt to the widely accepted society norms and ways of living of that country.
This is exactly why immigrants, be they legal or illegal, are being targeted today in several countries. Immigrants who move to other nations must learn and speak the language of the country they are moving to. Half the battle is already won if you talk like people of that country do. Gradually transit into the society of that country, and let the next generation be and live like the people of the country you moved to. Please do not compel the next generation to stick to the native roots and all that crap. If you really care a lot about the native roots, traditions and customs, then you must go back to where you came from as soon as possible.
This is my perspective. If you disagree with it, it is absolutely fine. Your life, your ways, but embrace the fact that your immigrant mindset will only cause trouble for you unless you change yourself. Fact: take it or leave it!
Lastly, governments that do not like immigrants may deport them but shouldn't be violent during the process. Such actions have further consequences. Nab them, apprehend them, deport them, but don't use unnecessary violence. Also, don't assume that the legal ones are also the illegal ones. There are several civilised ways to distinguish people other than just by looking at the colour of the skin and facial features.
