Adnan Mikhael this week made his debut for Lancashire County Cricket Club's Second XI. The Afghan teenager arrived in the UK on the back of a lorry, having travelled across Europe on his own, and claimed asylum in Preston. Fostered by English parents, he won a scholarship to a prestigious boarding school and joined a cricket team of disadvantaged Lancashire teenagers assembled by former England cricket captain Andrew Flintoff.
In his debut game he scored 25 with the bat and took two wickets with his left arm pace, watched by his proud foster father. He will not play a further part in the match as it clashes with his final year school exams.
I know nothing about cricket, but I saw his foster parents on BBC Breakfast and found the story really interesting. What lovely people: that's foster parents and Adnan
