So last week, France decided to start deporting Algerian residents &/or citizens based on accusations
Rather than actual trials. Accusations or reports of inciting violence or hate speech. No convictions. No trials. Many of them have popular social media platforms.
These are not illegal immigrants. They are legal.
This is a precedent.
Algeria sent back the very first person they tried to deport on the same plane ,lol.
There is whole context as to why France is trying to do this. But overall it isn't exactly standard protocol between the two countries. And it got to do with the fact that the current Algerian government distanced itself from France, and Algeria has an Algerian French activist detained waiting for his own trail and France wants him back. With the amount of pressure they are exercising, i am guessing he has some sort of valuable information.
France, 10 to 20 years ago used to give asylum to Islamists and other militant criminals, who would have had a military trial in Algeria, irrespective of their criminal records.
