Uh.....you CAN be a legal immigrant and it is NOT difficult at all to do! My father immigrated legally from Taiwan at the age of 7. While he's currently hiding out in Taiwan to evade a grand jury indictment and arrest warrants he naturalized as a US citizen years ago and can still obtain US passport IF he ever pays his child support arrears. There is a right and wrong way to do everything in life and as you stated millions CHOOSE to come the USA the wrong way and cannot blame anyone else for their difficulties and exploitation.

@amaricul Almost every country has legal pathways to immigration but people will always try to circumvent them.

@amaricul A lot hinges on which country you are coming from, how much money you have, etc. and a lot of these things depend on where you were born, which you can't control. I tend to think it's easier to come here from Taiwan than from, say, Azerbaijan. I'm not suggesting that people who came here illegally should blame anyone for the government not protecting rights that they legally do not have. What I am suggesting is that the legal way to come in here needs to be less difficult for good people from certain countries to come here legally. I just think that corporations do like to have a lot of people here illegally so that they can take advantage of people who have no legal rights. And I think corporations tend to get what they want, politically. So corporations don't want to limit illegal immigration, and they also don't want to make it easier for people to come here legally. Rather, they want it to be easier for people to come here illegally.

There is no such thing as undocumented immigrants. They are in the country illegally. That is like calling a drug dealer an unlicensed pharmacist.

@33person So when are YOU going to step up and do something about it instead of expecting others to do all the work and taxpayers to fund it?
In case you didn't notice the military needs more money not less. With China investing heavily in it's military expansion and a resurgent Russia your terrible ideas will leave the U.S. vulnerable to military aggression.
Stock buybacks are an excellent way for any company to reduce the outflow of cash via dividend payments. It's great business sense and has nothing to do with illegal immigration.
Offshoring jobs is also great business sense.A company is about it's products and making profits and any well run company will keep it's tax bill as low as it can.Again nothing to do with illegal immigration.
What have YOU done to help resolve immigration.Other than complain and expect other people to do all the work and burden the taxpayer.
This all sounds like a YOU problem.

@tallpowerhouseblonde If a commitment to manufacturing in the US is needed, then it seems you would want less offshoring of manufacturing. Offshoring is why these factories are built in these other countries.
Of course US adversaries are investing more in their militaries, but the US spends more than the next 10 countries combined, many of whom are US allies.
Stock buybacks do reduce the outflow of cash via dividend payments, of course, but they also artificially increase stock prices. No, it has nothing to do with illegal immigration, but illegal immigration and stock buybacks both pose opportunities for businesses to make more money.

What have YOU done to resolve illegal immigration and to boost US manufacturing? What have you done about US debt? Why are you, as an individual, not taking the burden of all of these problems on your shoulders? Maybe because it's not a job for one person.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@33person You are doing nothing either as part of a group or as an individual.Have you wrote to the immigration officials and volunteered your services?
Have you trained as an an attorney and volunteered your services?
How much do give to charities that helps illegal immigrants?
Have you gone to the border and provided illegal immigrants with food and shelter?
No you use the excuse that more than one person is needed.
Have you formed a group of volunteers to look after illegal immigrants?
Have you joined any existing organisations or governments departments to help?
I will assume that is no.
Offshoring is done because businesses look at their choices of where to establish their manufacturing operations and discover it is better for their finances to operate in countries outside the U.S.This will continue until tax laws favour manufacturing operations in the U.S.
Share buybacks dont always increase share prices. It is dependent on what percentage of the organisation will be owned by shareholders afterwards. It can be reduced in line with a share buyback.Companues aim to to keep investors happy NOT governments. You need to understand that clearly.
How about you act instead of posting about how sick of it all you are.Get out there and do something.
Until then as before this is a YOU problem.

I’m an immigrant and did so legally. It’s not easy, and it shouldn’t be or everyone would come here. It should remain skills based. The problem is that the laws are selectively enforced in lieu of making the visa allotments sensible. There are issues with professional workers but by far the biggest issue is turning a blind eye to productive yet illegal immigrant and thereby solving labor shortage, versus facing the reality that we need such workers, having enough and attainable visas for them, so that they can be part of society, pay taxes, and have a pathway.

Sure we are going to still have refugee programs etc.

There are no such thing as anti immigration laws. There are anti ILLEGAL immigration laws.

Absolutely correct. Corporations rely on undocumented labour for menial tasks from farm labour to hotel services. Its simple to stop. Ans stopping it would stem the flow of illegal immigration to a trickle. But any congressman or Senator who makes that stand will lose the next election as the lobby money goes to their opposition.

@gregloa If you have any actual facts to back up your pronouncements I will happily listen and maybe be educated. But I "give a $hit" because unlike you I realise that we all live on the same planet and are the same species. Our fates are linked. Our histories are different, so I wont start in on the mistakes either of us have made. But as of now your nation is in a heap of trouble and dragging its people into a future that at the very least has inferior prospects to those the older generations enjoyed. Considering the nations potential I think thats a shame.
You are of course free to disagree. In which event you are also free to "go forth and be fruitful." Have a nice day.🙂
Both are products of Britain ...
They started filling both up with people they didn’t like..
Others came along to the US..

We were a dumping ground for undesirables..@gregloa
@Texasgurl And those lands originally had indigenous people living there. Forgotten and dismissed because they weren’t white, but people nonetheless. 😒
