Is cancel culture real?

Kind of lol. The term itself has degraded beyond all meaning.

But I do agree and think ppl go apeshit over nothing all the time. Yeah who cares about the lady on the syrup bottle or some dumb dr.Seuss books nobody read anyway? lol.

Yeah, everyone know hp love craft was racist. His stories are still great
It's real, but it's not relegated to one side and I think its effects are often exaggerated. There was an interesting episode of the podcast "You're Wrong About" about the cancellation of the Dixie Chicks in 2003. Even back then it was swift and brutal mainly because of post-9/11 jingoism. Nowadays it's mainly done through social media. Still, in a lot of these examples, companies are "self-canceling" to get ahead of a mob that might never have been coming for them in the first place. Dr. Seuss' obscure books had been called out before, no one was threatening to cancel Dr. Seuss if they didn't remove those books from print, but for some reason they felt they had to act. 🤷‍♂️

@SW-User lol oh man I know. That’s what makes this whole thing so infuriating. The right wing absolutely loves to cancel people just as much as the left. Remember when they skewered obama over wearing a tan suit? Lol

I positively love cancel culture.. I hate the whiney willies who bleat on about cancel culture, they are the worst tantrum throwers ever. They want free speech but when it's turned back on their ignorant, arrogant selves, just watch them spew indignation. It's hilarious to watch them throw their little hissy fits
Your turn will come. 😂 @Adaydreambeliever

Canel culture is real

People are triggered so easily
Partly because they cannot think for themselves or understand the base rate
yeronlyman · 51-55, M
@NoahB not sure how the easily bruised sensitive cultured masses will do when something serious like war happens or the actual pandemic from hell

Anyways till then, we should still fight for compassionate but reasonable social norms

@yeronlyman i have the opposite opinion on this. I don’t think these whiney scolds on the internet represent the masses.
yeronlyman · 51-55, M
@NoahB I wasn’t just talking about the internet. I mean what I read and hear on print media and radio

People make themselves victims as a hobby and are disingenuous to real causes

Before social media people made small mistakes but it didnt stick to them like glue and tarnish their image forever. Twitter is a mess for that especially. Some of it is so unnecessary

If your product has a black person on the box/bottle it’s racist. If your product doesn’t have a black person on the box/bottle it’s racist.

Yeah, but the side doing all of the cancelling likes to keep it quiet, while the side getting cancelled speaks up louder.
Air is racist. It doesn’t have any color. So air is racist.
