How do i prove my Native American heritage?

My father is still alive but refuses to help me. If i had some of his dna it would probably help ke and i doubt just using my own blood would work.

You can do it the old fashioned way. If you know your parent's full names and even better if you know your grandparents names and know where they lived and roughly when you can look that up.

Also see if you can find local organizations that will help you out with that. Since you are looking for official recognition for benefits a DNA test likely won't help since at least here in Canada they want historical links to tribal groups so a DNA test that says you are 14% Native American which could include most of the continent that would not be terribly useful.

I know up here the MMF or Manitoba Metis Federation has contacts with historical societies that will do genealogy for you so maybe see if a similar group exists.

Be warned this can sometimes get you mixed up in tribal politics too. So there is that.
