American racists, do you feel jealousy about UK racists?

Firstly I have to say racism is very bad and there is no excuse for it and you should all just stop it. But in America it is different to Britain.

In America a bunch of people who were in Africa who were minding their own business were kidnapped and relocated against their will and forced to work crap jobs in farms. They weren't invited. I know about this stuff because I have a friend who's in uni.

In the UK the situation was different.

Like I said, they are both wrong, all racism is wrong but American racists have to acknowledge that they kidnapped a bunch of people and then when slavery ended, ONLY THE SLAVE OWNERS GOT Reparations (my friend told me).

It's very shameful

And let's be honest, slavery didn't really end after 1865. It just became slavery with extra steps. That's why privately owned for-profit prisons exist, and why they are considered evil.

@LordShadowfire to hold slaves?
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@specman Basically. What they did is, they enacted a bunch of so-called "sundown laws", which added inordinately high penalties for committing certain misdemeanors "after sundown", which was pretty much code for "while black". The 13th Amendment famously does not ban slavery as a criminal punishment, which meant that as long as people were convicted of crimes, they could be forced to do free labor for the duration of their prison sentences. So a black guy gets arrested and convicted for spitting on the sidewalk after sundown, or some bullshit, and he gets sentenced to 5 years hard labor. State sends him to a for-profit privately owned prison for those 5 years. Just as his time is almost up, he gets his sentence extended for "disrespecting a correctional officer". 5 years becomes 10 years, becomes 15, becomes 20, becomes life.

Slavery with extra steps.
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire whites also were sentenced to hard labor.
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@specman Oh, so that makes everything else I just said a fucking lie, because white people also got sentenced to hard labor.
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire no I was trying to make it clear that it wasn’t only black people now they might have been doing more law breaking, but that’s not anybody except for their fault. They knew that people would not give them any breaks. People were like that to more than just blacks. They used to call me trailer trash when I was growing up or white trash. I didn’t really ever do anything bad. We were just poor and brought up different than most
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@specman
The two are not equivalent.

@LordShadowfire my family were given no breaks. Hell they wouldn’t even give us food stamps. My dad left when I was 7 and my mom was a waitress at a little redneck bar basically just working for tips and they still wouldn’t give us food stamps. They gave it to black families who were driving Cadillacs! So don’t come at me with it was hard on blacks. I had to work like hell to get to where I am at today. Hell I’m still looking for that so called white privilege that there saying white people get. I wish I had that
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@specman And yet you and your family were never arrested under any sundown laws. Sundown laws applied to black people only. They existed for the purpose of enslaving black people. This is how they got around the ban on slavery after 1865. Do you grasp this basic concept?
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire why are we talking about something that was done in the 1800’s? Those laws are not even around anymore
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@specman 1800s, my ass! That kept going on all throughout the 1960s. There are black people alive today who remember when those laws were in effect. But hey, don't take my word for it. Ask somebody.

@specman Yes, but I'm saying the effect of those laws having been around for that long is still being felt. Do you understand that?
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire not really. I see where that it was not a pleasant experience for all. But that would mean the people from the south have a right to still feel the effects from the Civil War. Or the people who were victims of any of the alleged criminal actions to cause fear and create the sun down laws have a right in still feeling the the the effects of the sundown laws being discontinued. You have to forgive and forget to keep a positive outlook on life.

@specman
But that would mean the people from the south have a right to still feel the effects from the Civil War.
Why? On what possible fucking planet does that make sense? I'm talking about something that was still going on well into the 1960s and '70s, and you are comparing it to something that ended in 1865.
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire no. I was thinking about that before I sent ( about the civil war. The other part does apply) since I already typed about the war I thought fuck it and sent it anyway. Please disregard the civil war part of the message
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@specman Well, that ruins my momentum. Lol.
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire lol ! I try to keep our debate going sometimes even if I agree with something. Is that bad of me?
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@specman I get the same way, but I would only ever admit it to you. Lol.
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire yeah it makes for a good debate lol

Where do you stand on aid to Ukraine? Sometimes I feel that I’m against it but sometimes I feel like I’m for it.
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@specman I feel like we can't afford it, but if we don't help them, they'll stop being a country altogether, and get absorbed into Russia.
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire I go through phases of supporting and not supporting. I agree with your reasoning overall. I believe Russia will defeat Ukraine and try to invade NATO. China will invade Taiwan. North Korea will invade South Korea.

Sometimes I hear about different things as to why we are supporting Ukraine. I’ll try to find some of the articles I came across.

All in all I think Ukraine will suffer a defeat by Russia even if we continue to support them. From sending weapons and ammo to Ukraine we will be short and so would the rest of NATO, leaving us vulnerable.
My oldest son is in the Marines and he has told me before that it gives the military a chance to send prototypes of experimental weapons to see how they are on the battlefield. Also old equipment that they don’t use much or at all. He told me that at the beginning of the war, but as the war progressed I think we have began to send our conventional weapons that we do use and our ammo.
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@specman The only way to ultimately stop Russia is to stop Putin. As in a bullet through his damn head. The way the Russian government is set up, he can force innocent Russian civilians to go to the front lines of fight his battles for him, and he's made it very clear that he gives no fucks about the amount of casualties his side suffers. We get in, we kill him, maybe shoot a couple of his top generals for good measure, and the rest of them are so scared they withdraw troops.

As for the practicality of that solution, I have no clue.
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire yeah it seems like we could do it though
