I see it as people looking back hundreds of years, applying today's thinking to then, and using it as a launching pad for whatever grievance they want to wallow in. But my guess, although I could be wrong, is that you're also looking for, or motivating, grievance with this question. I'm CERTAIN that there's as many Conservatives out there stomping their feet over this as there are Liberals. Just different sides of the coin. It's how we roll these days.
@Ynotisay no agenda. Just curious to see the answers.

@JonLosAngeles66 OK. But the words you chose for that question say otherwise.
@Ynotisay really? I think it’s just a pretty objective question on a timely subject. What words?

@JonLosAngeles66 Well, the initial "Conquest," (capital 'C') wasn't particularly brutal. That came later. And White Culture? Also capitalized? What exactly is that? I'm white. What culture do I belong to? Is there a White Memo I didn't get? Let me know because it's really important to me that I stay in the appropriate lane.
@Ynotisay I capitalized what seemed key and it’s just my view of a particular culture war. And the Conquest, which is supposed to be capitalized btw, was brutal. There’s seems to be a rewriting of history going on in this thread. I’m not sure how slavery isn’t intrinsically brutal.
