Do you think a civil war is coming in the U.S.A.?

To any honest observer,it's become clear that culture and politics in the United States has become sharply divided into two camps:conservatives and leftists.While moderates no doubt exist,it's clear that they have little,if any,control over the current situation,and I frankly don't see the two sides in power ever coming to a mutual understanding.I won't debate which side is correct;everyone has their opinion on the subject.My point is that the beliefs of each side are so antithetical to the other that bi-partianship is largely extinct,and I don't see it coming back.Is it possible-even likely-that this state of affairs will escalate into a large scale conflict?Could there be a civil war in the U.S.?

Don’t think so, I don’t think there’s an appetite for war on the left. We’ll protest, but I don’t see us wanting to kill anyone.

I wouldn’t say that our positions are becoming more extreme, at least not symmetrically. What’s really happened is, it started with Fox News in the late 90’s, they made a killing providing alarmist entertainment that passed for news that targeted white men and convinced them that the government was screwing them in favor of women and minorities. So it’s not so much that the right moved right as it is they became more pissed off and less civil, and they started believing in alternative sets of facts that created an alternate reality for them. Now Newsmax, OAN, and others apparently do a better job of what was started by Fox.

What’s about to happen though, is Trump loyalists are setting up to steal the 2024 election by installing Trump loyalists in positions to count the votes and by delegating power to Republican-led state legislatures to override the will of the people by a simple majority vote, no explanation or evidence needed. From there they can pass even more laws to tighten voting restrictions in the name of “election security” to make it impossible to vote them out. We’re headed for permanent one party rule, and that one party is in the minority but really good at consolidating power.

@Theyitis Notice that all the "right-wing" people responding on the post actually want war?
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@JimboSaturn I hadn’t read through the comments yet, but doesn’t surprise me. It’s always right wingers I hear talking about how there’s going to be a war if the Left does such and such.

@JimboSaturn I don't think they don't understand how many "right wing" factions there will be. They will certainly have to get outside support to make it work.

A coup makes more sense but the only way that works is they get control of the nuclear football. I can't imagine the military is going to allow it.

@Theyitis

What’s really happened is, it started with Fox News

Stopped reading right there. Knew It's be a barking moonbat with nothing to say.

@Theyitis Well, at least you weren't biased in you response. LOLO
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@Budwick I don't care if I'm biased, I care if I'm correct.

@SW-User You don't think Fox News has had a significant impact on the polarization or rather the increase of anger in politics?
SW-User
@Theyitis They are maybe the 2% of media that occasionally leans right. As opposed to the 98% that blatantly cheerleads for the other side
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@SW-User Today you see it that way. If you took a poll back just before Fox News had started most Americans would not have said that 98 or 100% of media leaned, let alone blatantly cheerled for the left.
SW-User
@Theyitis So Fox illustrated that for them?

Good for them
