When was the last time you "MacGyvered" something, and, what was the problem, and how did you solve it?

If you have "MacGyvered" something, you have come up with a solution to fix something/prevent something worse from happening by using simple objects at hand, plus some creativity. The reference is to the TV show "MacGyver", 1985- 1992, and NOT the re-boot which falls far short of the original. Synonym "jury-rigged". I would guess that a recent synonym would be to "hack" a solution.

I secured my car's hood latch cable with zip ties to the side nice and tight until the hood finally opened reliably.

@Massageman Thanks, worked like a charm. I went about two months without being able to open the hood.

@SW-User Ahhhhh - the British Rube Goldberg. But HR was more into a MacGyver feel in that he went with common items to solve the problem, rather than the RG versions which tried to put in everything including the kitchen sink just to crete a weirder showpiece. Thanks for reading.

I fixed the sustain pedal on my dad's old crappy piano using old pinball machine parts. One of the bushings I needed was the exact size of one of the rubber bumper pieces.
